Colt .38 Detective Special

I would like to find out the value of a Colt .38 Detective Special. Metal on the bottom of the grip. Pictures I've seen place it as a first generation, made between 1927 and 1946.

    If you will post the serial number I, or someone on this forum, will look up date of mfg. That will help identify what variation you have. Some think there is a risk in posting a complete serial number. If you are one of them you can put x's for the last couple of digits. Type of grips and percentage of original finish remaining are two factors to consider in establishing value. PS: Welcome to the forum. The late Fred Ewalt, one of the foremost experts on Springfields, referred to the gun forums as "The Mother Of Misinformation". I tend to agree with him but I have learned some things here.

    RJP.... Accoring to your ser number your Det Spl was made around the end of 1960.

    The first issue guns were made between 1927 to 1946.

    The second issue were made from 1947 to 1972.
