Scoping a Ruger Hawkeye

I have a Hawkeye and different bases for it. One base is a Tasco and the other is of unknown mfg. Problem is std 3/8 dovetail rings won't fit because they won't get tight in the dovetail on the base. I've been told that these are probably 11mm dovetail bases. Any help would be appreciated. I have a 1 1/2X Redfield for this project and am anxious to try it out.
Thanks,

Are you saying that your rings made for a 3/8 inch base (.375 inches) will not tighten up on the bases you have for the Hawkeye or that the existing Hawkeye bases are too large and you can't get the rings on?
Reason I'm a little perplexed is that 11 mm is .433 inches, or course I have days when I'm "thicker than a brick" and this could be one of them[:D]

I'll poke around in the shop and see what I come up with.

The Hawkeye is long discontinued, but it is possible that it was mfg. with propritiary bases as are current model Rugers for which adaptors are available.
I think the quickest way to get to the bottom of this is to contact Ruger. Since it is an out of production gun the number I'm going to give you is their corporate HQ. Call it, tell them what you have and don't be suprised if you get transferred or given numbers for other offices.
The folks I've talked w/ at Ruger have always been very helpful.

Let me know how it play out.

Contenderman is correct in that the Ruger Hawkeye scope base was designed specifically for the Busnell Phantom style of scopes (propritiary). Originally the quick fix was having a gunsmith drill and tap the top strap for a standard base. This made for a sturdier base but ruined the collectability of the Hawkeye. If you know a machinest have him adapt a standard Weaver base to fit the Hawkeye base. If you do not want to go to the trouble I have a Hawkeye that has been drilled and would be willing to trade.

***** If the pistol does not have any extra holes drilled in it don't have it drilled ... these pistols in original condition are worth a lot of money!
