Who made this shotgun? Was told winchester?

    Might be and it might be Ithaca or anyone of several others.

    On the gun will be the Sears "dot" code which is typically three digits a period (dot) and 4 to 6 other digits and in rare ocassions these latter digits were followed by a dash and 1 or 2 digits.

    Find the code and post it and so we can do a search for you, but, with the "hardware" guns nothing is 100%.

    The only 400 I find is a Ranger (and sometimes Ranger, J.C. Higgins, and TW are one way on the firearm and another in the lists) and it is a Stevens 311, which is a sxs and was built in .410.

    best of my knowledge...ithaca never made a o&u. it may have been winchester but most likely 'noble.'
