Winchester Ranger .270...needs stock

I have a buddy who owns a Winchester Ranger in .270. Unfortunately he broke a large piece of the stock off toward and including the butt plate. I told him I could find one on-line, however, I don't know if it is a Model 70 (someone suggested it is a Model 670) or what, thus I don't even know where to begin. The serial # is G1667***. Likewise I don't know how old it is either, whether it is a Pre 64 or Post 64. Any info or leads would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I have one from about 1970, mine is a model 670. Yes there are replacement stocks but very few companies make them. The 670 is a real low end model, stock will cost more than the gun is worth

Probably a Model 70 Ranger. Hardwood stock, no checkering, matte bluing (kind of looks like a blue parkerizing). Bought one for my brother in the early 90's, in 30'06. Cheap version of the Mod. 70.

The model 670 is basically a model 70 without the 3 position wing safety and/or the controlled round feeding. the action dimensions are basically the same.

Try on the Want to Buy forum,..or try on the classifieds at www.accuratereloading.com by placing a WTB (want to buy) listing. Quite a few of these things around,..and most people will part with them or part them out due to the lower value.
