You may want to check with Ruger. I've had them re-blue a couple of revolvers for me. Don't recall the cost, but it was reasonable and the work was good. Fast turn around; 2 or 3 weeks.
If you decide to sell it someday "factory re-blue" might be seen as more desirable than "re-blued by some guy in E. Rainwater".
Maybe not, but worth checking into.

i have always been told not to send the 357 max back to ruger as they recalled them and want to exchange it.

I may be wrong, but I don't think they were recalled, just discontinued.

no i am almost certain that they were recalled.they were afraid of the topstrap cutting.

Topstrap cutting was definately the concern, but at the time that they came out I bought 2 and carried on a letter exchange with Ruger that spanned about 6 months and as many letters. They claimed that they were planning to re-introduce them once they had worked out some unspecified concerns. (Generally accepted to be the topstrap cutting issue.) I was arguing for re-introducing the Hawkeye chambered for the .357 Max. round. Obviously they didn't do that and eventually they stopped responding to my questions about the .357 Max. revolvers.
They never mentionned a recall. Only acknowledged suspended production.
