Rossi Model 68

I just sold my "truck gun", a (in my opinion) sorry a____ed KelTec P11 and bought a used Rossi Model 68, 2", .38 Special in about 90%-95% condition. Seems like a decent gun, shoots to POA at ten yards, and while not having as smooth a trigger as my old S&W Model 36, is good enough for what I use it for. In looking at the schematic on the Numrich site they show available a side plate for this revolver. There is no side plate on mine. It shows on the side, "Imported by Interarms." Are these different than the ones made by Rossi? I've read postings on this forum that Rossi will not work on any of these imported by Interarms. Is this correct? Anyway if it gets stolen I won't lose many dollars.

All of the "Rossis" I sold in the mid to late 1980's were imported by interarms. I would think that the sideplate would fit but my experience with this particular model is limited to 20 years ago...

O.K. , You sold a Keltec (we have really good luck with thes , & I own two myself & do like them , all with No Problems) , bought a rossi (with No Sideplate) ??? WHAT ??? wish I had more customers like you ...
    Geez !!!
anyhow , unless you have a really 'old' rossi , you should be able to purchase a sideplate , may or may not need fitting or ??? who knows if you buy one if it will be right or work ???
Im just not sure I can figure out the logic (or lack there-of) in all this ???
    Good Luck !!!

I have a couple of older Rossi snubbies. No import marks.
The blue finish is rich and deep, fitting is super, and operation is crisp and reliable. The DA trigger pull is steep, but other than that it has performed perfectly for 20+ years.

From the above, I think these are older models that may not be comparable to other production periods.

ABC Guns - The reason you don't understand the logic is that you don't know how to read a posting. I will tell it to you slow: .........my revolver has no side plate.........there is not a cutout in the frame for a side plate . . . . . .no place to put one. . . . . .if I had one I would have to use it as a pendant.

On the KelTec sunject, the gun did fire and eject and was relatively accurate, it simply isn't designed well. I never thought my hands were big, ring size #12 on right one and #10.5 on the left. My right hand simply wouldn't fit. They may be OK for men with smaller hands, or ladies, but then you have that 8.5 trigger pull and a two stage trigger at that. Mine weighed out closer to 9.5 pounds. So if you are happy with these, fine, I'm happy for you, but don't tell me what is good for me because you don't know.

I sold a bunch of the Rossi snubies back in the '70s&'80s. Never had a bit of trouble with any of them. What is your problem with the one you bought [?][?]

Dick, no problems at all so far. Maybe I wasn't clear in my posting. Where the sideplate would be on a Smith it's solid. No place to put a sideplate. In the schematic of Numrich's they show a sideplate available. The gun locks up tight, fairly smooth trigger and shoots where you aim. I'm happy with it.

Well, I might as well confess my ignorance. After I posted I took the gun out in the bright sunshine and sure enough there is a sideplate there. It is inletted so perfectly that there is almost no outline on it. It just couldn't be seen under artificial light. I compared it with the sideplate on my S&W M&P Prewar and the Rossi is more closely inletted. So that settles it, the Rossi 68 does come with a sideplate and I just ran a dozen more rounds through it and I like it better all the time. Sorry for the mistake.

O.K. , I CAN READ .... Your Post states "There is no side plate on mine "!!!!!! to me that was to mean 'it was missing' ...
I did not try and tell you what was 'good for you' , only you know that (or maybe you dont?)?, "sorry for the mistake" & "keltec SUNJECT" (whatever a SUNjcet is?)?Oh well , must have hit a nerve ....
Geez ...still not sure why the org. posts ...But ...Oh well .....
    Have a Nice Day !!!
