Am I crazy?

Good morning all. I have been carrying a Glock 19 for years now, but recently I have fallen in love with the model 340 S&W. It is more compact, lighter, and 5 rounds of .357 is nothing to take lightly. Isn't the first rule of a gun fight that you have a gun on you? I think that I prefer now the S&W over my beloved G19. Have I "gone to the darkside" by liking a revolver over a semi-auto? Thanks for all of your input.

heh this is my 3rd post tonight, you guys are going to get tired of hearing from me. I currently own a glock 19, and 23, and the P7M8. I am thinking of trading in my P7 for a 1911, or possibly a H&K Usp. am i nuts for thinking of this? I realy want to do the competion shooting, and dont think that the P7 will be that pratical for doing that.. and if i trade it in, what is a reasonable price to ask for the P7?

No, you haven't gone to the dark side, you have just matured in your selection of carry guns and you have become realistic on what you plan on doing with the gun.

Another way of saying it, you have grown up.

I am a big auto man myself. So guess what I carry more often than not? Thats right a Smith 638 Bodyguard. My preferred carry is a ankle holster and the Smith is the perfect fit for it and it is very light. I still carry an auto but 70% of the time that I do carry, its a revolver also.

You are correct you must have it on you to use it. I've owned a S&W 5 shot airweight for years. I've owned several semiautos during that time period and always end up going back to the revolver. Revolvers are just easier to carry, easier to mantain, and mine is accurate. I have the bobbed shrouded hammer so I can use it single shot if I need to for accuracy. A coffee can at 50 yards is no problem for 2 rounds, then the barrel is hot, after all it is a snub nose. If one knew he was going to get in a fire fight he would carry more weapon no doubt or better yet avoid it if possible. We carry a CW because we want to be prepared for the unknown a weapon in the glove box or at home is useless when you need it right now. So you are right, carry what you will actually carry.

Not at all. After all, you need to have choices for when dress rules out the Glock...

We're all crazy in this nuthouse; I thought you knew that!

You've made a great choice to go from the Glock to the S&W. It'll never let you down.

Mind you I also like the looks of the Ruger SP101. Anyone have any experience with this gun?

The sp 101 is a good solid gun but on the heavy side I imho the smiths have a better trigger

SP101 is a solid choice. Another great American-made product.[;)]

Revolvers can malfunction like anything else; but even a cheap revolver will probably be more reliable than even a very good semi auto. And a great revolver will probably be more reliable than even a superb semi. Just my personal belief. Plus not having to worry about one in the chamber- I leave mine on an empty.
