I've got one of these gems and its inner and outer tubes are buggered. I need to know if they are supposed to operate like every other .22 with a tube mag or is the setup some weird engineering? Does the inner come out to feed the outer from the end? or does the inner come out part way to feed the mag via a slot on the side of the outer? anyone? Beuller?

Hello I had my idea of how the magazine was made to work in my first post but then took it out by edit thinking I might have had it confused with a 1891 marlin and I did not know if I was right . But if I remember the inner did not come all the way out of the rifle but more like a trombone with you pulling the outer toward the front until you uncovered a Cartridge shaped hole in the side of the inter tube. Sorry it was years ago and I remember first rate when it came to Quality. NRA has some take-down manuals plus STEVENS PAGES might have what you need or even GUNPARTS INC.

The front magazine post and screw is the secret to putting your tube together, you need to put the post through the magazine tubes to hold them together. The holes will line up when the tubes are almost fully extentded and you can tighten the screw in to the post and tubes.

    Good, luck

hey, now you are getting me somewhere you 2. so does the mag spring stay connected to the far end of the outer, and does the follower stay attached to the mag spring? and all this is inside the inner, presuming then the outer never fully becomes detached? Does it just slideout like a trombone slide to the end and then stop?
    thanks very much guys!

The follower and spring will go into the inner tube, the latch should be held into postion with the magazine post inside the tube holding the latch, spring and follower inside the inner tube. Now you should be able to hold the magazine post and push it forward under spring pressure and latch it.

OK! now we are really getting close. but how does the spring and follower get compressed by pulling the outer out? I understand the inner tube latch being held? in place by the magazine post. but if the spring and follower are on the breech side of the magazine post, and latch, how does the outer pull the spring and follower with it and far enough to open the port for the cartridges. I presume the inner latch is held in place by the magazine post/screw. Thank you once again for the help!

The idea is that when you pull the two tubes apart the sping is compressed so you can load the rounds in the mag, when you close the two tubes toghther the sping purssure goes on the rounds. There is a hole drilled in the end of the outer tube with a slot bent down to catch the follower and pull it back to compress the spring. Sorry its been so long since I put the one together I have its hard to remember the process. I think this is the pain in the rumpus part, putting the follower inside the outer tube, getting it lined up with the slot, loading the inner tube up with the slot in the outer, loading the spring and latch in the outer tube, putting the post in. I don't know if the catch is out of the outer tube, you need to remove it to go through this process.

Sorry if this is not clear, its the best I can do!

Mate, well done! You have crystalized the whole process now as I look at mine. I was stuck on the outer catching or drawing the spring and follower back. Many thanks onced again!!! Greatly appreciated!
