Synthetic Stock Recoil Pad

I want to use a mercury recoil reducing device in the stock of a few of my rifles. I've used them in conventional wood stocked rifles and they help just enough. My problem is how do you properly remove and then refit the recoil pad of a synthetic stocked rifle? Specifically, I have a Weatherby AccuMark in 340 WM and a Sig STR in 300 Win Mag, but I'd presume whatever method is used in general on synthetic stocks would apply to these rifles.
