Advise on purchasing a small carry gun

Hello gun experts,
A guy was found 2 houses down in the front yard who died on our street by bad guys up on the corner. On several occations we have heard what sounded like fire crackers but it turned out to be gun fire....2 robbing the Super America on the corner.
I took the class to carry a gun and have tried to carry my 357 Taurus but its to heavy and big. I heve kept it in my truck but fear that its gonna get broken into.
I would like to buy a small gun to carry. One that no one knows about. One of the sales guys at a local gun shop advised me to purchase a S&W 442. The lowest price that I have found one for in the Twin Cities in about $410. I thought it was a good one because its so simple and weights in at only 16 OZ...
Can You guys give me some advise on this subject.
Thanks, Jim

That is a good deal for the other guns you mentioned, even better if the seller is happy.
Carry what you shoot best, and shoot what you carry often.
A revolver is a good carry because it is simple, and you take your brass with you.
If you are buying new, the new alloys are nice and light.

This is a high quality auto for a very good price. They're easy to carry and hit real hard. There is a real following for these nowadays as CCWs, and a big forum where you can learn all about them:

D.
I forget I have the P11 clipped in my waistband half the time. Its that light even with the 12 round mag.
Its so thin that it won't even print through spandex...OK so I made that part up, but you get the idea!
I used to carry my 442 S&W untill I got a Kahr P-9. It is flatter and holds more rounds. When I get my Kahr P-45 broke in, I will start ueing it. My advice is to carry what you are comfortable with, and PRACTICE [:D][:D]
No better carry gun the market.
I've learned to love the Makarov calibered pistols. Here's a really good one that has been detailed and is real accurate and reliable:

+1 for the P64. I carry mine alot. When I don't, I carry my Kel-tec P-11. Both are reasonably priced and are easy to conceal and carry.
