E. German Mak for pair of P-64's + ?

I have a nice E. German Makarov I no longer carry...I have gone to the CZ-82 for a number of reasons. I have two sons, out of the nest but still circling, so I'll "collect" in pairs when I can.

Other than the history, and deeper quality, of the E. German, what am I giving up if I replace it with a couple of P-64's. The ones I've shot behave much like the E.G. Mak., +P ammo, feed HP's, etc. Searches here don't bring up any red flags.

Any and all opinions appreciated.

I have 5 P-64s. They are an all steel, well-designed, tough military pistol that saw decades of service with soldiers and police. They need a really detailed cleaning and lube and some minor deburring if you buy them unissued, but when conditioned properly, there is no more accurate Makarov 9x18 caliber pistol. It will absolutely outshoot all the genuine Makarovs, Russian, Bulgarian or E. G. A lot of "experts" on their forum say you need to keep the projectile below 100 grains, but I've shot the Silver Bear 115gr HPs with excellent results and no sign of damage whatsoever. They are slim, powerful, accurate and reliable; a very good choice for CCW. They now cost about half of what they are really worth, but are steadily going up in price as they dissappear from the distributors.

Spare parts and new springs are readily available.

The P-64 is DA/SA and the double action trigger pull is heavy, which provides additional safety in the home with children and other uninitiated persons. That only applies to the first round, though, and the single action pull is really nice and crisp. You can always cock the hammer for the first shot and avoid the double action altogether.

That being said, I love the Makarovs and have a great Bulgarian,(rough and tough) and a beautiful East German. I don't think I could ever part with either, certainly not the E. G. I also have a Vz.82. It's ergonomics are better and it is a little more comfortable to shoot, but it is a more complicated design, and I think "simple is good".

I'd keep the E. G. and buy two P-64s. Sell the Vz.82 if you have to sell a gun; but isn't there something your wife bought and never uses that you could sell instead? [:D] You know, like an "ab lounger" etc.[:p][:o)][:D][:D]

I've got a brand new one been sitting, fully assembled, right in the way in the storage room for 15 months. Wife nagged me for months to buy it. She used it TWICE! A total of about 8 minutes!!

First thing that came to my mind.[:D][:D]
