Colt D.A. 45 Value??

Hello all! I recently came into possession of a Colt 45 and I am curious as to its age and any other info available. Serial number is 186478. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

are we talking a 45 DA revolver or semi automatic pistol? They made both.

Didn't they make a new service revolver, in 45ACP, or 45 colt? I was actually referring to the newer mfg., of the Double Eagle, and the Anaconda. They did make both of them in 45 Colt.

I don't think they made that many 1878 DA Frontiers.
A New Service of that SN would date to 1919 according to Proofhouse.com

It looks like a 1917 Colt. The cylinder looks like it has the clearance to shoot the 45 acp with half moon clips. I would say it is worth about $250.
