ANY ALTERED COMMEMORATIVE (REFINISHED STOCK)IS JUST A SHOOTER, ARE YOU SURE THIS ISTN'T A 742. ANY WAY ABOUT $200/300 FOR A DEER RIFLE IF IT WORKS.

This gun was made in the 1950's. The model 740 is a woodmaster,ADL or BDL. The price you received in another message is about right. Your name sounds like some one I know from KY.

Remington claims to have started production in 1816 ("America's Oldest Gunmaker"). The 150th Anniversary was therefore 1966, when this rifle was made, and the only year it was made. This rifle is a M742, not a M740, production of which ended in 1959. Commeratives not in original condition have little or no value beyond a similar regular gun in comparable condition.
