I am a colt and sig man. I was looking to purchase,
a glock 22C. But when I looked up Glock under on Gunbroker,
it is flooded with factory rebuilt Glocks. I have never
seen a rebuilt, colt, or sig.. Do Glocks wear out fast???
Just looking for an answer is all...

I believe Glock has a trade-in program for LEO's who want to upgrade or change models. They then check them out and distribute to gun dealers. They usually go for 60-70% of original retail from an honest dealer. I see these on GB are mostly overpriced.

Do they wear out fast? Guess it depends on how their treated in use. I imagine a lot of LE guns are
traded in for new models fairly regularly; Glock seems to be enjoing preferred status or brand of
choice among some professional organizations, so there are probably a lot of Glocks made available now that have been passed along this path & are now up for new owners.

I bought a 22C early last year but still find it less comfortable & accurate to shoot that my SIGPro or HK USP.
I fitted an aftermarket stainless .357SIG barrel & set of Millet adjustable target sights (front & rear) but the factory .40 S&W is still quite clean & well-fitted to the action. Both calibers shoot nicely from this frame, but it's just not to my liking.

I'd entertain an offer if you'd like to make one for my 22C, with or without the .357SIG barrel. The sights though are permanent, as the front sight required a swaged-pin fit; not what I'd recommend for daily holster carry as it's quite a bit higher than the stock front blade from Glock.

If you're interested, post an e-mail address & I'll contact you off list.

Glock has been offering refurbished guns on and off since about 1996. Up until about 2-3 years ago they were all over the place. In the last few years they have been very difficult to find however. They are only available when a department trades in their guns for new ones. This was usually prompted by Glock, not the department. Glock found that they could offer a LE department new guns, with new LEO mags, for their few year old guns with pre-ban mags. Glock wouldn't even charge anything for the swap or at least a very nominal amount. The departments were basically made an offer they couldn't refuse, new guns, new mags, new night sights (in some cases), no (or little) out of pocket expense...GOOD DEAL, SURE WE'LL DO IT!!

Glock could then take the guns, check them out, refinish them if needed, replace springs if needed, ship them out to distributors and get as much for them as they would a LE department (at tax exempt price). Why would they get so much? Because these guns would come with 2 high cap mags that were worth a whole lot more than 2 ten round mags that come with a new gun. As for them being only 60-70% of the cost of a new one...WRONG. I did the math, it is more like 85-90% of the cost of a new one. They were a little bit cheaper, but they usually looked very good and the big thing was the 2 high cap mags in the deal.

Unfortunately Glock can only do this once with each department. After they have done a swap one time, the department now has LEO mags. There is no more advantage for Glock to do a swap. They can make more guns, they can make more LEO restricted high cap mags, but they can't make anymore unrestricted high cap mags. That was the catch. At this point they have swapped with about every department they could. With no more used guns coming in, there is no more refurbished guns coming out to the public.

The factory refurbished Glocks have the same factory warranty as their new ones, one year, so they (Glock) feel it is just as good as a new one and will back it up accordingly. Given their limited availability, I wouldn't be surprised to see them as high as a new one would be. The thing to keep in mind is if they still have the 2 high cap mags and they have the same warranty as new, why not? How much would you have to pay for 2 factory high cap pre-ban glock mags? Add that to the cost of a new one and these refurbished guns look pretty good. Keep in mind the majority of the refurbs will not have the finger grooves or the light rails. If that is important to you, you may want to buy new instead.

You sure covered a lot Irarmsx!

No, the glocks don't wear out any more than any other gun. A lot of PD's use them, and the only thing that get really worn is the finish, since they are holster kept almost their life. Even with a few thousands round through, their still good for thousands more. Plus, the warranty is always there for you.

Refurbished GLocks usually have a fresh coat of Bluing and a check on the internal components. If any are worn, they are replaced.

I bought a Glock 22 police buyback, still has "MONTGOMERY COUNTY SHERIFF" etched in the side. It wasn't refurbished, still in original condition. There was some holster wear, it came with trijicons, and it is darn accurate too. My cost was $355. Not bad for a GLock.

    PS:
I recently bought a Sig229 in 40cal. I really like it, but the feel and recoil on the GLock 22 is still my favorite. My advice is to buy one and ENJOY

Give a Glock a try. I thought I would never own such an ugly gun, but now have six and have had them all at one time or another.

I picked up a 17 with 2 hi-caps about 96 or so for 429.00 I also found 2 more hi-caps shortly there after for about 25-30.00 each before the craz. I have never had a problem with it except when I tried to shoot reloads out of it,so I don't shoot reloads
