Yugo SKS-isn`t it suppose to be semi-auto

yesterday i shot my yugo sks for the first time since i bought it back in january,i thought it was suppose to be a semi-auto rifle when i bought it,is it,or does something need to be fixed,i bought it from rocky mountain distributers,i love the gun it shoots straight,any informantion will be helpful.
it doesn`t eject shells,i do have other semi`s(ruger 10/22-rem.1100)

I think those have a gas cutoff for use when launching grenades. Check that first. Otherwise, there may be a part missing in the gas system. There is a long piston in the handguard and a short piston with a spring under the rear sight.

i`ll look for the gas cut off for the granade launcher,that sounds like it could be it.

could it be the button on the end of the gas tube on top,it has 3 positions it could go to,guess i should get a manual.

Your guess is correct concerning the button on top of the barrel. Move it to the other position and your rifle should function properly.

Move your gas cut-off button to the right for semi-auto. Center position was for grenade launching, push it down and to the rear to remove for cleaning - be careful, the little spring underneath will launch it!
