Red Dot mount for Marlin 336

I have a friend that is trying to mount a Red Dot scope with Weaver type mounts on a Marlin 336. All the bases that we have found have the slots too far apart and will only work on a regular scope. The mounts on the red dot are about 1&1/2 inches apart. Please reply to

    you can have a gunsmith cut some new slots in a weaver base as a last resort.

    If my memory serves me well,Millet may make a mount just for that.

    as rugster has stated millet makes one for a red dot scope or you can take a 1/8 chainsaw file and cut one yourself takes about 5 minutes just stop cutting when you get to the top of the base hope this helps

    sound's like to me he has 30MM rings trying to fit on a 1-inch base...just hazarding a guess...or maybe vice versa...don't really know w/o seeing the set up. What brand Red Dot?
