luger and P38 questions

Is there a way of finding out exactly what I have in a luger p38 marked gac44 and other markings, and aluger with a 1915 on the barrel? who would i write to and give all the markings to and find out the history and value? thanks, davek@sisqtel.net

    I guess by a luger P38 you mean a P38 which shoots the 9mm Luger round? I'm pretty sure if you re-examine the marking it is ac 44 (?) which would be a W.W. II German ordnance code indicating manufacture by Walther. I show no gac listed as a pistol manufacturer. A Luger with 1915 on the receiver ring is interesting as it is an older one, but as is the case with the P38, the condition will largely determine the value. Your best bet is to have the pistols visually appraised by a knowledgeable person in your area. Next best would be to send a set of good detailed photographs to such a person. I believe Capt. Kirk (the Moderator of "Ask The Experts") has provided the address of a Luger expert in the past; perhaps he will again.
