Rebarrel a Savage 340??

I got a Savage 340 as a hand-me-down from my dad. It is a .222 now and I was wondering if it could be rebarreled to .223 to take advantage of he abundance of .223ammo, etc. Can this be done easily by a gunsmith?

Thanks for your replies,

Any good gunsmith should be able to rebarrel the 340.
But,,,,an easier & cheaper solution is to simply rechamber
from 222 to 223, and you may have to get a 223 magazine.

Sportsmans Guide has been advertizing factory new .223 and 30-30 barrels for this rifle very reasonably. The 223 and 222 may have different rifling twists. I'd check before rechambering or you may be stuck using 50 grain bullets.
