Win M70 supergrade

I'm considering the M70 300 WSM in supergrade. Other than the buttstock, is paying the extra money worth it when compared to the Featherweight or the laminated stock M70 models? I have a preference for wood over synthetic.

    Hello Jim and welcome to the forum.

    I have to agree with you... wood (and really good looking wood) is what I like. However, the wood is not what makes the gun shoot good. Only you personally can answer the question "is paying the extra money worth it"?

    Hello Jim. Bert you type fast and once again you are on target. Jim you don't say what your needs are. Meaning do you want to buy one for investment purposes, or are you going to take it out after game? Since you mentioned laminate and synthetic, I guessing current manufacture here. The Classic Feather weight, (when introduced) had a suggested retail price of $680. Today new in the box, (100%) About $525. Model 70 Classic Super Grade,(when introduced) retail price $933. Today same gun today, 100% new in the box $745. The classic has lost about 24% of it's value where the Super Grade lost about 20%. If you are going to hunt with the gun, go with the cheaper one, main reason the first time you fall, or slide down a hill side, you wont feel as bad when the gun gets dinged up! If you are looking for an investment, better go Pre64 if you don't want to lose money. Regards Dave

    It is my intent to hunt with it and enjoy its company...don't care much about the expected dings from hard hunting. Am I spending the extra money on something else other than the wood? I have been quoted prices from $885 to $945. Is it a better shooter compared to similar M70 models having the same overall weight? Thanks to all for any input.

    Hey Jim...As far as I know the Supergrade version offers nothing other than cosmetic features. The actions are right off the same assembly line as the other versions.I personally like those eye-appealing features, even if they don't make the gun shoot any better.
