Contact the county or city zoning department. They can answer that question. In NM you can operate out of your home, but I believe the BATF has certain requirements for security. My FFL has a vault in his home.

I KNOW ALL THE FEDERAL REQUIRMENTS ITS THE STATE REQUIRMENTS IM HAVING A TIME WITH. THE FEDS ARE EASY TO COMPLY WITH AS LONG AS YOUR NOT A FELON OR A ELEGAL ALIEN ITS OK WITH THEM..AS FOR A SAFE YOU DONT EVEN HAVE TO HAVE ONE ALL THEY REQUIRE IS GUN LOCKS THAT PREVENT THE GUN FROM BEING FIRED..I WAS KINDA HOPING SOMEONE HERE WOULD BE FROM MISSOURI AND COULD HELP WITH MY DELIMA,OR AT LEAST GIVE ME A CLUE...ANY THOUGHTS WOULD BE GREATLY APPREICIATED.

To find out if you can have a businees in your home or elsewhere you will need to contact your County/City Zoning office.

I'm not a Missouri resident, but it sounds as if you live outside of an "incorporated area" so my suggestions is to go to the Sherrif's office and get their input, after all they are the law enforcement agency that will have to agree to your getting the license.

Follow the link to this site:

    http://www.missouri.gov/mo/index.htm

& print the booket "Starting a New Business".

You will also need to check with your county government to determine their requirements. You're going to have to do some homework; BATFE expects YOU to prove that either you have state/local approval for a home based business, or evidence that you don't need approval.

    Hello,
I am a Missouri resident, who formerly had a FFL. Biggest thing from the state is the retail sales tax and business license!!!!
