Stevens 311, H Side by Side Barrel

I've had a Stevens 311 H 12ga side by side for years. I picked it up for a song, way back when, as the barrel had been cut to 20" and the stock was a mess. New wood being available from Boylds got me thinking about getting a long barrel for it. But, while I know a bit about a number of firearm systems, side by sides are not one of them. Are barrels available for this shotgun? What are the pitfalls I should be aware of? Any info will be helpful.

bbls must be hand fit to the receiver. hope you know a good smith. watch the forearms. they tend to fly off when fired. and they kick! good luck!

sell it for the song you got it for and make a little if you can and buy a better gun. its not worth the hassle. trust me...the guy you bought it from knew what he was doing.

Have you patterned it at 30 yards? I bet it can't miss between 20 and 35 yards. Since you got it cheap, I'd keep it and use it for rabbits/pheasant/and great self-defense. The Stevens are actually excellent guns considering their price. Then if you do want tight chokes(translated into your going to miss alot of the time!) go out and buy a 20 guage stevens for $200 - 300 >> Almost all hunters are OVERCHOKED!<<<
