Have a military flare pistol, brought back to the states from Europe WW2. Markings as noted: Hammer is stamped M.601, and Barrel is stamped 107590. Blueing is about 70%, signs of surface rust only, nothing pitted deep. Grips appear to be black bakelite or plastic, with no chips, cracks, or holes. Below the grips is a loop ring which I assume had a cord and attached to a belt for safe keeping. Pistol is in good working order. Question is: is it German, US,British, French, Etc. - Thanks for your time and help - Joebaffler

J.P. Sauer & sohn made in western germany and the serial number 18769/4 (there are two matching ser#'s) one under the gun also.
on the other side it reads silver city marshal cal. 44 magnum
then on the side it has hawes firearmsco. Los Angeles, California
any info about this weapon would be much appreciated also a value would be nice from the 75 % range to 100%

Quality is generally good. But there is basically no collectors market.
Value? Well it's really what someone will pay you, and it will vary in different parts of the country, but I'll venture $75 to $150+ and caution you to expect the selling price to be closer to the lower end. That way if you hit the top end you will be happy[:D]
Of course if the revolver functions fine, you can just keep it and enjoy shooting it.
If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!
