Swiss K 31: Because fewer of them were made than most C&R military weapons (About a half million according to the gun groups); it has an unusual straight pull bolt action; it's very accurate for a military weapon and it's on sale this month at Southern Ohio Guns $85 or $90 depending on how many you get.

Wow!!! There's a tall order! There are hundreds, if not thousands of arms on the C&R list, so I'll give you a few of my personnal favorites:
    1) Ballester Molina; Argentine 1911 (ish) clone
    2) M48 Yugo Mauser; strong cheap and reliable with cheap ammo
    3) SKS 54/66; you gotta like anything that costs $140 and has
a grenade launcher on it...cheap ammo too
    4) Polish made Tokarev TT-33. Great quality, interesting round
(good penetrator) and made at the Radom factory!
    5) Turkish Mauser: REALLY cheap...who cares if you hurt it!
    6) Any of the Moisin Nagants: Most are cheap, ammo is
plentiful and cheap. Best of the bunch? The Polish
    made M-44's. Very high quality!
    7) Star Modelo A/B: These are neat looking Colt clones firing
9mm and 9 Super that give good value for the money
    8) Swedish Mausers: Fairly expensive but you almost cannot
go wrong as they are all well maintained and shoot
like nobodies business! Maybe my favorite Mil. Surps!
    9) French 36/51's and 49/56's: Highly underated even if the
French are highly OVERrated (regarding ANYTHING.
Period! Cowards!) Good shooters if you can still find
    them cheap!
    10) Spanish FR-7/8: Neat looking and one of the last of their t
type. Take the same Bayonet as the Cetme!
    11) My personal favorite...the Swiss K-31! Srange looking, odd
fitting, straight pull, farm gate trigger...regardless,
an awsome rifle that with decent ammo (start reloading
NOW!!) will shoot the lights out. Bought my first for
$140 and last at $90 and don't regret either purchase!!
I give up at 11: You'll get information overload!. Most of what I listed is still out there for sale but there are SOOOO many others, including sporting guns of the right vintage, that I could go on for days! Have fun with the C&R license I assume you already have or will soon!

    "When I cease learning...I'm dead"(Me)
    "Power corrupts...Absolute power corrupts absolutely"(Descartes?)
    "History is written by winners"(Patton)
"You get a lot farther with a kind word and a gun than you do with a kind word alone!"(Al Capone)
"There is nothing lower than the human race...except the French" (Samuel Clemens)

A very short list for sure!

    Model 96 Mauser (Broomhandle)
    Luger
    Type 14 Nambu
    Webley
    Colt Model 73 (Peacemaker)
    Colt DA 38
    Colt 1911
    Colt Model of 1917
    Krag
    1903 Springfield
    US Enfield (Model of 1917)
    Garand
    Carbine
    Johnson 1941
    Gew 98 Mauser
    K98k Mauser
    Enfield Mk III
    Type 99 Arisaka
    Type 38 Arisaka
    Browning HP (Ingles made)

This covers the US, British Commonwealth, Germany and Japan during WWI and WWII. The Krag, Colt Peacemaker, and Johnson, while not primary weapons during these periods are nevertheless in the US lineage.

Swiss K31..(though ammo is pricey)...CZ-52..The condition of these is great, ammo cheap, stupid simple to strip......Nagants..but be sure of the condition, there are some clunkers out there....(SOG).....and then buy another K31...I'm sweet on those 'cause I'm part Swiss....[^]
