My WAG is that it's Russian, but I have found nothing to substantiate that.

Post to this forum, somebody would be sure to know.

Check your spelling. If it's "pobeda" rather than "podeba", that's the Latin spelling of the Russian word for "victory"- a common name for Russian products. They have an autombile called the Pobeda.

It's Russian - pronounced po - BYED - a. Common brand over there.

My mistake--it is Pobeda. Any idea what a box/brick of this stuff goes for, and where it can be purchased? I'd like a box for my collection but it's being sold as a brick only, for $50.00 including shipping. Haven't been able to find this anywhere else!

Looking at my database of ammo sales, I've seen it offered at prices of $8 - $11 per box, retail . . . no details on the vintage, although a note that it was made for the German market. Given that it is imported from Russia and relatively scarce, $50 total is not a bad price for a brick. If you collect, you can always use the other 9 boxes for trade bait and / or likely sell them for somewhat more than your investment. You can also check the IAA site: http://www.cartridgecollectors.org/ - this is the foremost ammo collectors' organization in the world. Lots of .22 people belong and if you are not already a member, the contacts you will make would be very useful in enhancing your collection.
