I have a 03 a3 springfield that was chambered for 6mm remington...does this mean that a new bolt and reciever was made for this gun...i have heard the recievers are weak...under normal firing conditions should this be a problem? what about the bolt

In all likelyhood, since the base & rim dimensions of the 30-06 and the 6mm Remington are virtually identical, the original 03 A3 bolt was utilized.

If indeed your rifle is a 03A3, it was manufactured during W W II. It's not one of the low numbered early 03's that have "Brittle" receivers. If you have any misgivings about your rifle take it to a "COMPETENT" Gunsmith, for inspection, headspace check and test firing.

im pretty sure it is a real o3 a3 because a friend that knows what he is talking about guns identified it as one...he also measured the headspace and said it was very good and built well

The 1903A3 will be so marked on the receiver ring. There should not be any problem in determining which model it is. The marking may be under a scope mount.
