Value of M1 Carbine

I have a Winchester Carbine and am considering selling it, but in my "blue book of gun values" I can not find a listing for it. I also have what I think is an original U.S. Military folding stock in a canvas sheath with US printed on it. Correct me if I am wrong, the Winchester did not come with the folder, some other company produced it.

Thanks for the help.

I forget where the carbines are in Bluebook. Check under US MILITARY or M1 Carbine. It's there.
You are correct about the M1A1 stock. Produced for Inland made weapons. The originals will have a number cast (not stamped) on the forward side of the metal buttplate. Many repros abound so you must check to ensure it's original.

The stocks by themselves are quite valuable if original.

You really can't use the Blue Book for either of these 2 specialized items.

The carbine's value depends upon condition, & how many parts are original. A carbine that has been through arsenal rebuild, or has an import markings, will be much less than one as it was issued. You might want to buy a copy of "US M1 Carbines Wartime Production" by Craig Riesch.

A lot of the same reasoning applies to the folding stock, too. They are many variations, & repairs detract from the value. Especially vulnerable is the leather cheekpiece, which is often torn or replaced.

Do you mean that you have an original Winchester M1 Carbine, and seperately, a folding stock & sheath?

The so-called "Paratrooper Model" Carbine (the M1 A1) was manufactured by Inland between 1942 and 1945. The canvas sheath (aka Jump Case) alone is worth $150 to $300.....don't know what the folding stock is worth.

An all original Winchester M1 Carbine (from 2nd Edition - 2003, Standard Catalog of Military Firearms):

    Exc. - $1300
    V.B. - $850
    Good - $700
    Fair - $600
