Can the chamber of a Savage model 24 chambered for .222 remington be modified to shoot .223 remington, and would it be safe to do so?

Anybody ever installed choke tubes in an older Savage 24, or seen one modified this way?

I have a savage 24s i think it has a 20ga bottom with 3" chamber, 22lr top, the break open button is on the front of the trigger gaurd and the selector is on the hammer, has wood stock, what choke is the 20ga barrel? how much is this gun worth in good condition except trigger gaurd is cracked where the screw goes through it...

This may be simple, but I never knew the answer.

Why aren't you supposed to shoot the shotgun barrels with a scope attached on a Savage Model 24?

    Thanks!

I have a savage Model 24 22 mag over 410. I cant seem to find a selector switch any where, I have tried numrich and brownells as well as our local gunsmiths. This model is designated 24, no letter after it and I dont believe it is all to old. The old switch I believe was w round button type by what I have seen at gun shows and is on the right side of the action. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks

I think that just about all the shotgun barrels on the 24's are modified chokes. They sell around here for $200-300. More if they are a fancy wood, engraved, or 410.

Hard work pays off in the future. Laziness pays off now.
