Can anyone tell me what this pistol is and the approximate date it was made? It's been laying in the bottom of my gun cabinet for several years and I honestly don't remember where it came from. I was digging around in the cabinet looking for a pocket knife and saw it laying there. Decided to see if any of you knew anything about it.
The barrel size looks about the size of a .22 and it has rifling.

It is marked "Gerstenberger & Co" on the top and "FLOBERT 6m/m gezogen" on the side. Here are some pics:

    I appreciate any help.

Gerstenberger was a name of a German firearms manufacturer, active both before and after the Second World War. Although from the construction it appears to be of post W W II manufacture, the only sure way to date it, would be by the proof marks. This type of single shot pistol were commonly know as a Zinmerstutzen, and was used for in-door target shooting with special low power rim fire ammo that only contained a primer. This is similar to the modern Mexican, Colibri ammo.

To what Rufe said, I would only reinforce DO NOT attempt to fire with any type of standard 22 ammo- the breech system was only made to contain the force of the BB cap ammo. Usually round ball, no powder, primer only. A "parlor" pistol.

Ok, thanks for the info. Is this old thing worth anything?

Is it possible to buy ammo for it?
