Remington 1148

A friend took an 1148 in trade and wanted to know if I was interested in buying it. It's a 12ga in good shape and the price is about right from what I've seen over on the auction side but I know nothing about the 1148. Anything to look for? Are they decent shotguns? Reliable?

Hi, will the stock and forend off a 1148 12ga fit a 1148 16ga? I am having trouble finding one for the 16 but 12's are plentiful.

Does anybody make a barrel with screw in chokes for the 1148?

I think the 20 will fit a 16, but the 12 will not without doing some trimming to make it fit the receiver. I had one years ago and trimmed down an 870 stock (12 ga) that worked ok. Durn thing kicked too much to dove hunt with.
