Springfield XD and lead bullets

I'm thinking of buying a Springfield XD 45 " barrel. Anyone know how they hold up to cast lead bullets? TIA...Joe

Hello Joe if your springfield pistol has normal "CUT RIFLING" it should be fine with lead loads if kept clean the Pistols like Glock and some others with pologon rifling shoud not be shot with lead loads.

Ive always heard in autos you want to use jacketed bullets, and thats what ive always stuck with.

I have shot thousands of rounds of lead SWC through both a Colt 1911 and a Para Ordnance with no problems at all. Jacketed bullets are not required for a semi-auto pistol. You will be fine using cast lead in your XD.

Reason I ask is that I've heard that Glocks lead up fast. The indoor range I shoot at does not allow jacketed ammo. I shot an XD for the first time yesterday and really liked it and am going to buy a high cap pistol before long, but if it will not shoot lead I may opt for something else....Joe
