Reshaping remington bolt handle

I was thinking about smoothing the edges on the bolt handle on a stainless steel remington 700 and having the finished product glass beaded. Nothing fancy just break up the harsh lines. Anyone done this? Any tips, pointers or reasons not to do it are greatly appreciated.

    catmonkey,

The Remington 700 bolt handle can be shaped with fair severity as long as the cam angle at the root of the handle is left alone. The most frequent change these days is grinding the ball onto a cylinder and threading it for a "tactical bolt knob". Breaking the edges to smooth out the lines should be just fine. always remember that once you take it off you can't put it back (easily).

    Best.

also keep in mind the bolt handle is only silver soldered to the bolt body, it can break off.[xx(]
