Spencer Arms Co. of Windsor, Connecticut manufactured the first successful slide action repeating shotgun from 1882 to 1889. It was designed by Christopher M. Spencer who also designed the spencer carbine. The shotgun came in both solid and take down models and in 10 or 12 gauge. Francis Bannerman bought the patents and machinery and moved the operation to Brooklyn, NY in 1890. They then produced what is known as the Spencer Bannerman models from 1890 to 1907. The later Bannerman models are worth 20% less then the Spencer models.

In the condition you discribed the gun is worth $200 to $300, if it is a takedown model it would be worth 20% more and a 10 gauge would be worth 10% more.
