I see listed a 1885 Ballard light hunter NEW is this made in U S A
or where and by whom

    Listed where? It would be a help to be able to read the same description you have.

    The Ballard Rifle Co. of Cody, Wyoming, USA makes rifles to the original Ballard design and styles. They also make, confusingly enough, accurate reproductions of the Winchester Single Shot commonly called High Wall or Low Wall. In their nomenclature, an 1885 is of Winchester pattern, an 1875 is a Ballard type.

    THEIR 1885 Light Hunter is a Winchester High Wall action fitted up as a somewhat more modern single shot hunting rifle. Is this what you refer to?
