M1 Garand won't eat lake city

I just bought 500 rnds of Lake City '06 at a gun show then took some to the range to feed my M1. after a couple of rounds using the single round clip the bolt failed to lock back. this happened several times. I thought it might be the clip so I switched to a five rnd clip and after i shot, the spent case would eject but the hammer wouldn't cock again and the bolt would close without loading the next round into the chamber. same with the 8 round clip. about every 3rd shot would fail to load so i would have to pull the bolt back to load the next round.
I don't have alot of experince with semi-autos but to me it seems like the rounds don't have enough power to throw the bolt all the way back so the next round can load. the 30-06 cases say: L C 6 8 on the back so i'm assuming they were manufactured in 1968. I didn't think that was too old. do I have bad ammo? is there somthing wrong with my gun? it has never happened with remington/federal 150gr 30-06 before. I have only fired 100+ rounds through it since it was assembled/refinished. any help would be appreciated, thanks.

    Clean the gas port
    Clean the gas piston
    Clean the gas cylinder
Check to see if the piston or cylinder are worn or out of spec.
Do Not Oil Any Of The Above

    Check for Op Rod Binding
    Check for a broken mainspring
Make sure the Op Rod track and bolt lugs are greased properly

Wait for someone more familier than I am with diagnosing Garand operating problems, to come along and provide more input

What is the make of your gun? Where did you lube it, & with what?

Do you think you may have reloads? Check the primer pocket for crimp and lacquer. If it is not NM ammo the primer should be crimped in the pocket. NM will not be crimped but will have primer sealed with lacquer.
