Anybody heard of them or have one?

www.pentagonsafes.com

Any opinions would be appreciated.

I was going to get one from Benton Shooter Supply (http://www.bentonshooters.com/safefeatures.htm)
but saw these and was wondering which was a better buy for the money.
As far as I can tell the Pentagon will cost around $900.

I may get flamed for this but; As long as a FIREPROOF safe has the U/L listing it meets the needs of us gun folks. The idea is to keep robbers from opening the safe and getting all your goodies while you are not home.

The other hope is that some measure of protection will be offered in a fire. We live so far out in the boonies that by the time the fire department gets here my house will have collapsed into the basement, where I keep my gun safe. I don't expect to see much left if we have a fire. Just charred ruins of what used to be guns.

Insurance will cover the problem if there is a fire. My goal is to keep a burglar limited to my reloading equipment and stuff like that.

Any safe with a decent door will keep bad guys out. Just make sure it is BOLTED to CONCRETE so they can't steal the whole shebang.

    Thanks for the input.
I went back and checked on the safes that Benton's sales and they have a much better fire rating. So I guess my mind is made up.

I have a simple Sentry safe that will hold about 8-10 rifles/shotguns. It's not even fire proof. I got it mostly to keep the bad guys away from my guns as well as the kids. I also keep passports and credit cards in it. I think the important point to remember is that the price of a safe is a small price to pay for the "insurance" you get from it, namely keeping the kids safe and the bad guys away from our guns which by the way cost big $$$. By the time you accumulate 7-8 guns, accessories, etc do the math...

ONLY, if you provide them (the insurance company) with a detailed list including serial numbers, pics, etc. ahead of time, and pay for the extra coverage. That is to say, above and beyond standard content coverage. Most insurance policies will only cover a couple thousand at most for firearms. If you have more than that then you need to give them a list of your firearms.

I have heard in the past that such lists are made available to govt. agencies if need be. Something I personally am not a fan of.
