Rust removal

I just picked up a couple of older progressive reloaders. One is a Star in 44mag and the other is a Size O Matic 800B in 12ga. They both have some rust on them that I would like to remove. Is there anything better than steel wool and gun oil. How about the Rust/ Blue remover I have seen in the gun cleaning products. Any help would be great.
Thanks

I know it's been discussed over and over again but, what are the best ways to remove surface rust from old shootin' irons (without leavin' 60 grit scratches of course)?!
Thanks,

Be very sure to NOT USE RUST REMOVER products, like naval jelly, or your blue will be trashed.
A course cloth would be a 'rough rag'....don't try to use one of the 'green scubber' squares, they are too hard.
Some folks will draw a piece of hardwood over the oil-soaked rust to bring it off without marking up the blue.
Just be conservative. If you go too far there is no good way back.
Just soak it down, give it a couple of days, wipe it down and do it a gain until the rust is gone.

#000/#0000 Steel wool and penetration oil! Steel won't take the bluing off but will deal with the rust. Good luck!
Au contraire, steel wool WILL MOST DEFINITELY take off the blue, its all in how much pressure you put on rubbing it. Be careful.
Good luck.
Need to use an older one, though, since the newer pennies are harder,I'm told.

Great idea with the copper wire.
Wish I'd thought of it!
I'm writing that one down for future reference.
Thanks,
