How good are these? Is there a better similar alternetive? I have a gun I want to put away for some time. I thought I would wax it well and put it in a BoreStores (I am reluctant to put a gun in anything for too long without checking on it).
Thanks in advance for any input

Borestores work well, but alone are probably not enough for long-term unmonitored storage, particularly in humid climates. They do offer some protection, being fleece inside, and they are silicone treated. They will allow good air circulation around the guns. In the desert they work well for storage, and likewise work well in a safe with Golden Rod. They are not however a rust-proof storage for guns, nor, I think are they suitable for unmonitored storage.

Plastic wrap and cosmoline should work fine.

He Dog gave you the answer, Bore Stores work well as long as you monitor the gun once or twice a year. I have used them for several years now without any problems but I do check them regularly.

I use Bore Stores and have had no problems. Bore Stores are supposed to be treated with a rust inhibitor. For long term storage I wrap a well oiled gun in rust inhibiting papaer (Brownells has it and bags.) and store in heavy sealed plastic bag. Been 2 yrs so far. Can not see any problem. This is the method I prefer.
Am also using a Birchwood Casey Coppertone bag. They are expensive but are supposed to last 20 yrs. I had a shotgun in one and stored it bbl down. punctured the bag. Thay are not as sturdy as I would like. I do move stuff around in safe so problem was probably my fault. Gun in bag was fine. I have used Rig in conjunction with a can of dessicant also, and that worked well. Problrm is you have to recharge the dessicant periodically. Like every 3 mo. here. It is a pain.
