Would like you guys opinion on purchasing a hand gun in the 4-5 hundred dollor range 9mm or 40 cal. Looking for dependability and accuracy, along with ease off cleaning. Thanks

I carry, shoot, own 3 Glocks in 9mm . A 17 and 2 34's. Hard to beat, regardles of price. I can better answer Your question if I know the main role of the pistol./

I own both a Glock and a HK USP (both in .40cal). Will NEVER own a 9mm.

Very happy with my HK USP. I added the Glock a little while later as a "carry" gun because it was slimmer and smaller than the USP. I prefer the USP for shooting, more comfortable and (I feel) more accurate. But for concealment, the Glock is easier to hide. Both guns are 100% reliable, and function great!

All three are fine weapons. All are reliable. Best thing to do is buy the one that fits you hand best. Only bad thing about a Glock is that its a glorified single action only and I like having a double action trigger so I can always pull the trigger again on a lazy round.

Glock if you don't have a choice, Sig if you do....

There is a great rule when it comes to buying firearms, it goes like this: The gun that fits you the best is the best fit for you. I can not say for you which of the groupe you should by as I do not have your hands. For my hands I love the CZ-75, it fits me like a glove. A glock feels to "chunky" in my hands and a USP has to large of a grip. They are all great guns so buy which ever one fits you the best.

I happen to own and shoot Glock 31, Glock 35, Glock 17 and CZ75, CZ 82 and CZ52. As far as I am concerned there are only two pistols: Glock and CZ.
I have shot friends HK USP. STAY AWAY FROM THE USP. It is NOT worth the money you will spend on it. It is just the hype. It is not some magic gun which is more accurate or reliable then CZ or Glock. It is the gun of the SAME quality with TWICE the hype. If you want the most bang for the buck, go with a CZ. I like my CZ75 more then I like my Glock 17. My wife, on another hand, prefferes Glock 17. But she has smaller hands then me. Remember this, 357SIG is a superior round in many ways to anything short of a 10mm. However, buying a USP is a waste of money. It is just as reliable and accurate as a CZ or Glock, for nearly twice the price.
I had over 2000 rounds from my CZ and NOT A SINGLE FTF or FTE. Same with glocks.

4500+rds through my CZ and not a hiccup.

As I said before, CZ(or Browning HP)'s are the best steel framed guns on the market, save for 1911's.

Sig and HK are my choices otherwise.

I won't buy another pistol without looking at a CZ first.
Half of the lives they tell about me aren't true.

I liked my Glocks until I bought a used Sig 220. Now I'm thinking of changing my name to "Sigdeere".

Oh, yeah. One more thing. A gun SHOULD be comfortable, true. However,
at the same time reliability is a thing. The gun that I liked the best as far as how it felt in my hand was Taurus 24/7. I like Taurus, have PT99 too. However, taurus SOMETIMES has reliability problems. Just lets say they make 100 pistols, but out of them 1 will have problems, the rest will be perfect. You might also look at Beretta.
As far as SIG goes. I dunno what others see in it. I shot over 200 rounds out of my friends SIG. Came to the same conclusion as about USP - overprised hyped up gun. You will NOT get better grouping with SIG or HK then you will get with Glock, CZ or even Taurus. SIG is NOT any more reliably then Glock, CZ, or XD and arguably more reliable then Taurus 24/7 or PT92. SIG and HK are NOT bad guns, they are just hideously overhyped and overprised.
Also, you might want to take a look at Springfield XD. It is a good gun, available in variety of caliber.
Another good gun to try out is Tanfoglio Witness. I will be getting a 10mm Witness very soon.
Always, ALWAYS, try to separate the HYPE from reality. SIG and HK USP are 50% hype, 50% good reliable gun. Thats why they are so overprised.
And I hated how the Sig felt in my hand. CZ, Taurus 24/7 and XD felt much better

Of those three: CZ first ,HK second, and Glock a very distant third. And I would buy a used Sig before I would buy a new Glock.
