Anybody shot the Taurus Judge .410?

I am curious about this pistol, but would like a report before purchase.....

What size group does the .45 long colt shoot at a stated range?

Does it shoot only 2 1/2 inch .410 shells or can it use 3 inch?

How does it pattern, what would the effective maximum range be on a grouse, say?

Can you get .410 buckshot in 2 1/2 inch shells?

Thanks folks!

Last month's issue of "Gun tests" had an evaluation. They concluded that the gun was attractive, well made, fit and finish were excellent - but it didn't do either of it's two intended purposes as well as individual guns would. As a .45 Colt, the accuracy was less than average, probably due to the over long chamber bore and as a shotgun, the barrel was too short to provide the necessary tight pattern as needed when using a .410 bore. Shooting grouse with this gun at a range of 6' would be risky, unless you can hit them with the .45 Colt slugs. As a short range, snake gun it would be very useful, as a self defense firearm in .45, it's way too big compared to other pieces availabe, e.g. the Taurus model 450, Total Titanium in .45 Colt. Taurus makes good guns, this one is too much of a compromise.

At a gunshow today, I saw a couple of the Taurus model 4410 (.45 Colt, .410bore combos) with 6" barrels. The one tested by Gun tests had a 3" barrel. An additional 3" of barrel, will obviously make a difference in the shot gun aspect, and maybe stabilize the .45 slug a bit better, although the jump to rifling through that oversize cylinder bore would still long enough to allow pitch and yaw which would deform the bullet on entry into the forcing cone. Good question. The 6" barrelled pieces were selling for $425 blued finish.
