CCI Blazer / PMC Bronze reliable?

Are these discount brands as reliable as the higher dollar ones? I have heard they shoot dirtier than other brands, and that the cases may not be reloadable, but is there anything inherently unreliable about these product lines? Would there be any hesitation about using them in a self-defense situation?

    WoundedWolf,

I've shot some of the CCI Blazer aluminum case ammunition in revolvers and it worked fine. Dirty? Absolutely! Reliable? They all went BANG in my revolvers but I didn't shoot any of this ammunition in semi-autos so I can't speak to that.

CCIr Blazerr ammunition delivers the ballistic uniformity, accuracy, reliable function and power of service ammunition at a substantial savings. The savings is in the case. It's made from a high-strength aluminum alloy, like that used in 30mm antitank rounds. Blazer cases are every bit as effective as brass except that they are non-reloadable and, more importantly, less costly. Give it a shot - you'll see why law enforcement agencies across America trust their training ammunition needs to CCI Blazer ammunition.

GREAT ECONOMY THROUGH GREAT TECHNOLOGY. If casual practice is getting expensive, look to Blazer. Blazer uses aircraft-grade aluminum that's heat-treated to make an economical cartridge case. As the case is the most expensive component of any cartridge, our aluminum case lets us give you a cartridge that has all the performance of brass-case ammo at a more attractive price.
We load Speer bullets and CCI primers, both with a long record of happy users. You also get selection, from 25 Auto to 45 Colt. Blazer also features a selection of bullet weights and styles, something you can't get in typical "white box" ammunition or imports. Blazer is a great option to reduce the cost of practice, letting you shoot more, and more often.

    Best.

Around here some of CCI's Blazer ammo is the same price, if not more expensive, than Remington's Green Box or Winchester's White Box.

I put some 9mm Ammo through my PT111 and noticed the cases were only tossed about 4" out of the gun. The Remingtons were thrown 5-6'. Maybe something to do with light loads? Maybe the Blazers might be too light for certain guns?

As far as how clean they shoot, I didn't think they were any dirtier than any of the other plinking ammo by any of the major manufacturers.
Half of the lives they tell about me aren't true.

I've put a couple hundred Blazer Brass .45's through my 1911 with no problems. But yes it is dirtier than some.
