Will the 7.62x25 Tokarov magazine work in the 9mm Tokarov and vice versa?

Last 9mm Toke magazine I had, came with a spacer in the back end. This was because the overall length of the 9mm is 3/16+ shorter then the 7.62 x 25.

The magazines MIGHT be interchangeable? Unless you can remove the spacer without destroying the magazine though, can't see how you would be able to use the 7.62 x 25's in a 9mm magazine.

I think it depends what model Tokarov you have. If it is true to origonal dimensions, the 7.62x25 mag will work for both. I have a Chinese 7.62x25 that I bought a 9mm coversion barrel for and it uses the origonal magazine for both. I think that there was a commercial version Chinese that was made strickly for 9x19 with mag well that took just the shorter round.

Reinforcing: I have a CZ52 in 7.62x25 and another in 9x19mm. The mags are interchangeable and work just as well, one for the other. My TT-33 is in 7.62, and 9mm cartridges will fit in the magazine, don't know if they will feed into a 9mm chamber, but they sure fit in the mag.

Thank you for the replies.I was not too clear in my request for information.I am wanting to replace the 7.62x25 barrel with the 9mm.I now understand that the mags will interchange in the frame but will the 9mm properly feed the 9mm round.I did try a 9mm 1n my 7.62x35 mag and it seemed to feed ok as far as it could enter the 7.62x25 chamber. If someone has one pistol of each caliber try using the 7.62 mag in the 9mm and let me know how well it feeds, even if you just cyle them maually without firing the pistol.[:)]

9mm Toks have a spacer in the frame rear to use a shorter mag. The spacer has a loose fitting pin which may be accessed by removing the grips and the spacer will slide out. The Tok will then accept standard 7.62x25 mags. To convert the 9mm to 7.62x25, you need a barrel, smaller barrel bushing, longer firing pin and the ejector has to be cut back far enough to eject the longer 7,62 round.
To convert the 7.62x25 to 9mm, you need a barrel, larger barrel bushing and a proper mag. There are 7.62 mags with built-in spacers
(my two don't work properly). Some say the std 7.62 mags work but you have to try them. I just tried it by hand cycling and it fed but in firing, it may be a different story. 9mms will move around in the mag.
Numrich had a frame spacer and pin that requires drilling the frame to install. Having had bad experience using mags with built-in spacers
I would instal a frame spacer if the std mags dont work for you.
That would permit you to use the shorter 9mm mags that work fine.
Shorter firing pins that come with Norinco 9mms wont fire hard mil primers in either caliber.
