Model 64...Original???

Hello...there is a Model 64 on Gun Broker, Item#71399033, Would appreciate any opinions on the custom checkering and stock work. The current owner believes the gun was made custom by Winchester at the time of is manufacture. He purchased it from a Winchester collector over 30 years ago. At the time, the collector told him it was original. I thank you and hope this posting does not cause any problems...I do realize that opinions may vary!

Never say NEVER when it comes to Winchester but IMHO both the pattern and the quality of the checking on this item looks much too crude to be factory Winchester. See what Bert H and only winchester has to say.

I agree with perry shooter in that the checkering does not seem to measure up to Winchester standards, although it is somewhat attractive.

The stocks and checkering on that rifle are not factory original.
