Hello all,

I purchased a HK 91 type .308 sporter rifle today, and was wondering if someone could give me some information on it. Not sure if its a CETME of what? On the side is says:

Imported by CAI Georgia,VT
Manufactured by Indep.
Portugal
Serial I 07**
G-3

I was just wondering how this clone is compared to the rest?

Good Quality or Poor?

Any information would be greatly appriciated....

Century is hit or miss on quality. I have a CAI AK, it is fine. THen again, the AK is meant to be produced in a 3rd world country with a 5th world machine shop available.... I also have a Century FN-FAL (metric pattern), which is *mostly* fine, but a bit out of spec on the reciever. Mags are really tight to put in/take out and a scope mount that fits great on a friends DCI and original Imbel is about 1/8" too long to fit on my reciever and allow it to close.

If the op rod/charging lever on yours is hard to work, or feels extra stiff, it may mean something is up... otherwise, I say take it out and shoot it and see what happens. Definately get a few extra mags - the one that came with my FAL is easy in/out but does not stay in the DCI or Imbel properly....

Looks like you got one of the Portugese receivers, instead of the crappy Hesse receiver.

Quality should be good, if manufactured in Portugal. Many of those have a thumbhole green stock and were known as XG3S.

However, many of the receivers with cocking tubes attached at the port factory (oftimes crooked) were sold as bare receivers. Many of these were imported by InterOrdnance, but I've seen a few Century imported ones as well.

With those you don't really know who built it.
