Repairs for Colt Lightnings and Thunderers

I just bought a Colt Thunderer storekeeper model (cheap) which does not function in single action and is a little iffy in double action. I know that this is not uncommon for these pistols due to design and heavy use.

The question is, does anyone know of a gunsmith that specializes in their repair? Or for that matter can they be repaired?

Also, the hammer is bobbed, which I assume was not done by colt.

Thanks for any info.

The 1877 has two separate firing systems. The double action system is more durable than the single action system and is more likely to work than the single action feature.
Parts in good condition are hard to come by except for springs, cylinder pin and the cylinder locking bolt.
The mechanism is sort of a nightmare so you may not easily find someone who is willing and able to fix it.
The hammer was bobbed by an owner.
How about some left and right side photos?

The pistol is still in Maine (it is kind of hard to fly with it). I will post pictures when I bring it home next week.

    Thanks for the info.
