They locked parts 1 and 2, so if you want to see the whole story, please look for them. Trying to find something that will take the coating off FN's 5.7x28 brass case.

Did you try the citrus cleaner, Goo-Gone, as I suggested?

Yes, didn't seem to faze it. Only thing I have found is a commercial brass cleaner. But even it takes a lot of time and some scrubbing with brass wool. I am looking for an easier way.

Mods, why don't you take this topic to the general discussion. I am sure there are some chemists over there that would be able to help.

I want thte coating off because with the coating on the case it will not grip the chamber walls during firing and I can't run as high as pressures in my bolt action without getting the bolt lift to get a little sticky. The coating helps in a auto but hurts in a bolt.

Not sure where you will find it but Methyl Ethyl Ketone Peroxide is one of the best solvents I have ever used. It will eat cheap: paint, plastic etc. It will also check your hide for leaks! Read and heed the Material Safety Data Sheet, your brain and liver will be happier. Acetone (Nail Polish Remover) is a whole lot kinder to your system.

M.E.K. will clean it off! You let is soak for about 5 minutes. Using brass wool (steel wool will scratch the brass cases) soaked in M.E.K. and a little bit of scrubbing and the case is clean, no more plastic coating.

All threads in the Ask the Experts forum get locked after ten posts (or a few more if the Mods are away). If you want a thread to run longer you might try posting it in one of the other forums that don't have any such limits.
