M96 robinson

I recently purchased an original Robinson M96. I have read where several parts need to be replaced in order for the gun to be safe. Once replaced, does it make a good shooter? I just do not want to invest more into an already expensive rifle needlessly. Thanks.

I've never shot one but if there is something defective about it I would contact the manufacturer who last I heard is still in business:

I contacted Robinson and they said the bolt carrier and trigger assembly needs to be replaced or the gun has a rare chance of blowing up. Thats a direct quote by the way. I hear good and bad things about the rifle and I am just trying to sort out the chaff.

They would know. They going to send you the parts or are you going to send the rifle in to them?

They said just send the bolt carrier and trigger assembly (lower receiver) and they should send it back in a few days. I have heard so many good and a few bad things about these rifles, I just don't know what to think anymore.

No personal experience, but I've heard bad feedback about how they do business.

They've had several problems with these rifles, one of the first involving barrel latch failure while firing. The problem is they actually charged owners for the fix.

Not sure if they're charging for the trigger group and bolt carrier "upgrade" work, but you might want to inquire.

Actually, RA has been pretty good so far. They have answered all of my questions and offered to help as much as possible. The trigger group and bolt carrier upgrades are free.
