Other than the length of the casing what is the difference? More importantly can I use WRF in my .22 win mag rifle?

WRF is loaded to a much lower pressure than WMR. You can safely fire the WRF in any WMR firearm in good condition. However, I can't tell you if it will feed/function reliably in your rifle.

You can safely us 22 WRF in your 22 MAG, but considering that the WRF ammo is worth 2-3 times as much (per shot) as the MAG ammo, why would you?

You can buy new production CCI WRF quite a bit cheaper than WMR.
However, you're right on older collectible stuff.

IIRC, 22magnum is only available with jacketed bullets,(FMJ or hollow-point) and the WRF uses a lead bullet.
The WRF can be fired in a firearm chambered for the 22 magnum but not vice-versa.
The CCI new production is about 2 dollars a box cheaper than 22Mag.
I use the WRF in my NAA mini derringer revolver for these reasons, and the recoil is also not as stiff, making it more pleasant to shoot.

    Thanks---Peabo

Years ago, about 35 or so I used the 22 special (22wrf) in a ruger single six because it was more accurate in that gun than the 22lr or the 22 mag.
