Can a .243 be converted to .220 with out changing the bolt face. It appears to me the specs that I have the rear of the both cases are .473. So are they a match?

The bolt face should work but the magazine may not. There's quite a bit of difference in the length and shape of the cases. I just rebarrelled a Mauser to 220 Swift and so far it's a two shot gun.

The 220 swift is an odd boltface,..but less than the .473" than a 243 uses. The action will be the same (short action) and I would check into the magazine follower to be sure you didn't need a different part. Other than that,..I would say it is as simple as a rebarrel job.
