Witness failures

Good evening all, I was participating in a local shooting event and witnessed an EAA Witness .45 double feed 5 times in two rounds of IDPA style competition. The man changed out ammunition and it double feed again, then I heard him say"well, it looks like it is back to the smith for some more fixing". Is this gun known for these problems. Also, all of the Glocks ran through without a hitch and the Taurus 1911's looked really good. The highlight of the evening was a WWII vet shooting his origional Colt 1911 that he was issued during the war.

Sounds like a magazine issue. Any clean .45 issue gun will just keep banging away with ball ammo until empty. Relaod with a fresh magazine and continue Ad Naseaum. The 1911 platform is a shining example of the brilliance of John Browning.

I have seen feeding issues in these guns as a result of bad mags or bad mag springs. Get a new Mecgar mag and it should be fine.

The CZ design is solid and great, and I never had a problem in over 3000 rounds thru my TA-90 - a Tanfoglio made CZ75 clone, the predecssor to the current steel frame Witness.

    I'm guessing mags as well....

I have a Witness Sport 9mm that has 10-12,000 rds through it shooting matches. I used factory mags that has three rd extentions on them. The gun has never choked one time on me. That guy should try some other mags in his gun, mabe a different recoil spring too.

what type of ammo? not brand, but type.... hollow point, semi-wadcutter, hardball? seems to me that hardball would be the easiest for any gun to feed. if he's not using it, maybe he should try some. and of course, as posted above, good mags will usually solve the problem. good luck
