Kahr magazine falls out

Please help if you can. My new Kahr PM9 pistol fires fine except one of the magazines that came with it (the longer one) falls out after one or two rounds. Is it a bad magazine or bad lockdown in the magazine well? Thanks for any help.

Bruce

The catch slot is cut too high or the filler at the bottom on the mag is too long. Take the slide off and put each mag in and see when or if you can hear the click. Push each one hard and listen. I had a couple of problems with my P-45 when I first got it, the trigger reset-not locking the slide back on empty mag and not feeding. Sent it back and two items fixed, still not locking slide back. It is very hard to get through to the service dept. This phone number might help you, it is a direct line to the service mgr. 508-635-1400.

dcs shooters: Thank you for the reply. I did what you suggested and the 7 round magazine just does not click or lock right. I will call the phone number you gave to me and ask for a new magazine. Hard to believe a $600. pistol has to be worked on right out of the box.

When I got mine back they had fixed the feeding and trigger reset but the slide would'nt lock back. The mags sent with the gun had the metal tab on the follower ground down. I called and asked for two new followers and a few days later I got two new mags. They worked part of the time. I filed down the shoulder on the slide stop and the head of the screw that holds the spring so the slide stop goes in deeper. I now have four working mags. There service is good IF your phone call can get through. The one in the manual is very busy all the time.

Well, I am going to call the number you gave me but I am pessimistic about getting a live human to actually help me, but I'll try. I suppose just taking the gun to a local gunsmith would not help? Maybe they are familiar with the magazine falling out problem and can fix it locally. I do not want to mail back the pistol. Thanks again for your info.

Don't worry about sending it back under the warranty. They will give you a number to send it FED-EX. The turn around time is good.

"It's very hard to get through to the service department". To me, that says it all. Only one good reason there's an overload of calls into Kahr's customer service department. Damn sure it's not satisfied customers calling to compliment quality workmanship.

Sorry for the sarcasm. I was considering a Kahr. I'm gonna pass. Joe

EDIT: DCS...thanks for the heads-up. I didn't consider that angle. Best, Joe

Bummer, you must have a bad mag. My PM-9 works like a charm with either mag it came with. Check for a burr on it. Must not be completely locking. Just a few thousands of an inch would keep it from working.

Don't pass on the Kahrs Joe, my P-9 has run like a top since I got it. Every gun co. puts out a lemon sometimes, as with most everything. The feeling I got trying to get them on the phone when the P-45 had to go back was that they did'nt have that many people working for the business they had.

I called their service department today. No human, just an answering machine. They did not call me back yet. I shot it again at Bass Pro and now BOTH magazines are falling out after shooting a round or two. Truthfully, I would not recommend this gun to anyone. I'll call their service department again tomorrow.
